The Jeep-Boat-Jeep service is the quickest & easiest way to travel between Arenal & Monteverde or vice versa. Because this area is so mountainous, there isn’t a direct route between the two places and the drive around Lake Arenal can take upwards of 5 hours.
The trip combines comfortable door to door service with a beautiful scenic cruise across the tranquil Lake Arenal, where you will experience beautiful views of the majestic volcano and the forested Tilaran Mountain Range. You will also have the chance to see a variety of wetland birds such as king fishers, fly catchers, waders and other exotic species that abound on the lake shore.

Ground transportation from your hotel to the Lake Arenal dock, a 30-minute boat ride on Arenal lake, ground transportation to your Hotel in Arenal or Monteverde.

Important Information:
The logistics of the Jeep-Boat-Jeep (shared shuttle) involves: 20-25 min drive from downtown La Fortuna/ your hotel to the dam of Arenal Lake, 30-40 min boat ride through Lake Arenal and about 1 hour and 30 min drive from Rio Chiquito to your hotel in Monteverde. Passengers should expect to carry their bags/luggage to and from the boat. Drivers will do their best to help if you have any problems with carrying heavy bags. Just let them know in advance. If any member on your party requires assistance please inform us in advance. * Please note that if your hotel or villa is located outside the main hotel zone an extra fee between $25.00 - $95.00 USD will apply.
