01.
Lightweight Clothing

Pack breathable, moisture-wicking clothes suitable for Costa Rica’s warm and tropical climate. Include swimwear and a cover-up for beach days, as well as light layers for cooler evenings.

02.
Comfortable Footwear

Sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots are essential for exploring Costa Rica’s national parks, rainforests, and rugged trails. Sandals or water shoes are great for beach outings and water activities.

03.
Insect Repellent

Mosquitoes and other insects are common in rainforests and near bodies of water. Pack an insect repellent containing DEET or a natural alternative like citronella to prevent bites.

04.
Travel Adapter

Costa Rica uses 110V outlets, the same as in the U.S. and Canada, so most travelers won’t need a converter. However, bringing a universal travel adapter is useful if carrying devices with different plug types.

05.
Rain Gear

If visiting during the rainy season, bring a high-quality, waterproof rain jacket or poncho to stay dry during sudden downpours. A compact travel umbrella can also be useful.

06.
Sun Protection

Protect yourself from the strong tropical sun with sunscreen (preferably reef-safe), a wide-brimmed hat, and UV-protective sunglasses. A lightweight long-sleeve shirt can provide extra sun protection.

07.
Reusable Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is crucial in Costa Rica’s heat. Carry a reusable water bottle, as tap water is generally safe to drink in most areas. Consider a filtered bottle for remote locations.
